Symptom
Miele dishwasher will not fill
The machine starts, waits and stops. Miele publishes several separate conditions for this and they point at four things, three of which are outside the appliance and free to check.

- OEM parts available on order

Four ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
The tap
Not fully open, usually after work under the sink. The manufacturer lists it first for a reason.
Dishwasher drain & fill repair from $175 -
The inlet filter
Inside the screw connection at the tap. It loads with scale faster here than the interval assumes.

A kinked hose
Behind a machine that has been pushed back into its opening.

Flow pressure below the minimum
The maker names 7.25 psi. A machine on a shared line can be under it at certain times of day.
Appliance installation from $225
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
Two shortcuts
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem, and the model number says which parts to bring. Either one shortens the visit; both together usually settle it.

About Miele dishwasher will not fill
The fastest diagnosis is the code
Open the tap fully, then check the inlet filter where the hose screws onto it — with the machine unplugged and the tap closed, because that plastic housing contains an electrical valve. In this water that filter is the single most common cause and almost nobody has ever cleaned it.
Four causes, three of them outside the machine
The manufacturer lists them in order and so do we: the tap, the inlet filter at the screw connection, a kinked hose, and flow pressure below the 7.25 psi minimum. Only the fourth is plumbing you cannot see, and only after all four does this become a valve.
Why the inlet filter matters more here
The interval this machine assumes for that filter was written for softer water than Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach supply. It loads earlier, and because it sits at the tap rather than inside the appliance, almost nobody has ever looked at it.

Same terms everywhere we go: an on-site diagnostic first, the price agreed in writing, and the exact figure confirmed once we have seen the unit.
