Symptom
Miele dishes come out wet
On this make that is frequently not a repair at all. A Miele dries with residual heat and, on the newer machines, by opening its own door at the end — so a machine that will not dry is often a door that is not opening or a rinse aid reservoir that is empty.

Four ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
Rinse aid empty
Residual-heat drying depends on it more than a heated-dry machine does.
Appliance maintenance from $145 -
The automatic door opening
A mechanism, and it has its own conditions on the display.
Dishwasher door & seal repair from $165 -
The load
Items nested so water sits in the hollows. Plastics dry last on any residual-heat machine and sometimes not at all — that part is normal.
Diagnostic visit from $95 -
The heating circuit or its sensor
When the water never gets hot either. This make reports the two separately.
Dishwasher heating & drying repair from $225
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
Two shortcuts
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem, and the model number says which parts to bring. Either one shortens the visit; both together usually settle it.
If the display is showing something
- F170 Lack of rinse aid
- F24 Heating relay contact condition
- F25 Desired temperature condition
- F1 Water/heating temperature sensor short-circuited
- F2 Water/heating temperature sensor open-circuited

About Miele dishes come out wet
The fastest diagnosis is the code
Fill the rinse aid reservoir. It is the single most effective thing on this page and it is free. If your machine is one that opens its door at the end of the cycle and has stopped doing it, say so when you call — that is a specific mechanism rather than a general drying problem.
This machine does not dry the way an older one does
There is no long heated-dry phase. A Miele dries with the heat left in the load and the tub, and the newer machines open their own door at the end to let the moisture escape. So the things that make it fail are different: rinse aid, the door mechanism, and how the load was packed — before any heater is suspected.
When it is the heater after all
If the water never gets hot either, that is a different page in the same machine. This maker reports the heating circuit and its temperature sensor as two separate conditions, and the sensor is a fraction of the part.
