About Miele refrigerator error code F383
What Miele publishes for it
On a Miele refrigerator, the manufacturer publishes this for the ice maker water inlet is failed. That sentence is Miele's own, read off its published support page for this condition rather than worked out from the outside. Everything below it — what the condition covers and what is worth doing first — is ours, written from what this equipment does in Miami kitchens.
What this block of conditions is about
Miele's US refrigeration is the MasterCool line and the built-in columns, and its conditions are mostly sensors — the cabinet keeps running and tells you a reading has stopped making sense, which is why the food is usually still cold when the code appears.
What it covers
What a published cause names is a circuit rather than a component, which is the single most useful thing to know before anybody orders a part. This one covers:
- The fresh water inlet hose (if present) is kinked.
- Undo the kink so that the fresh water can flow though the water inlet hose freely.
- The inlet filter is soiled.
- The water container (if present) is not correctly installed.
- Line up the water container on the guide rail and push it back in as far as it will go.
- The float switch in the water container cannot move freely.
- There is a software condition.
- There is a condition affecting the magnet for activating ice cube production (including water intake).
- Proceed as follows to check whether the magnet is still there:
- There is a holder clipped onto the left-hand handle of the door.
- The magnet is located behind the holder.
- If the magnet is not there, contact a technician.
Worth trying yourself, in this order
- Clean the inlet filter (2).
- Remove the water container.
- Clean the surface underneath the water container.
- Check whether the float switch inside the water container moves when the container is shaken. If the float switch is jammed, clean the water container and remove the blockage.
- Set the desired temperature in the freezer section to -0°F (-18°C) for at least 48 hours.
- Slide the ice maker drawer into the top compartment of the freezer section.
Then what
Do this before you move any food. Miele refrigeration usually keeps running while it reports — the cabinet is telling you a reading has stopped making sense, not that it has stopped cooling — so there is normally time to work through what the maker asks without emptying anything. Check the door first: in this humidity a seal that no longer closes cleanly puts a MasterCool cabinet into a state it will report before it warms up.
Miele publishes this one for the refrigeration. The full Miele archive has the other conditions, searchable, and on this make the same number appears on more than one machine roughly a third of the time, so the appliance above is part of the answer. We repair this equipment across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.
